The First Whole-Home Plumbing Coverage in San Diego

We inspect and document every fixture in your home — photos, condition grades, and a sewer scope video — then we cover your plumbing. Monthly plans from $59. From your plumber, not a warranty company.

  • Every Fixture Documented
  • Sewer Line Scoped on Video
  • No Dispatch Fees
  • Insurance-Ready Reports

Harborline Shield™

Coverage that starts with a licensed plumber's inspection and digital proof — not a claims adjuster

Maintenance clubs give you discounts. Home warranty companies cover your plumbing sight-unseen, then argue about "pre-existing conditions" when something breaks. Harborline Shield is different: we document your entire plumbing system first — every fixture photographed, your sewer line scoped on video — and then we cover it. When something wears out, we already know it wasn't pre-existing, because we have the pictures.

How Harborline Shield Works

Four steps from "hope nothing breaks" to documented, covered, and re-inspected twice a year.

Thorough Baseline Inspection

Every plan starts with a paid $450 baseline inspection — about five technician-hours. We photograph and record every fixture and fitting in your home — locations, materials, ages, and condition grades — and video-scope your main sewer line. Nothing is covered sight-unseen, so nothing gets disputed later.

Your Home Gets Covered

Once your plumbing is documented, we cover 100% of the labor when a covered component fails from normal wear and tear — you pay only for parts and materials at member pricing. No dispatch fees, no trade-call fees, priority scheduling.

Re-Inspection Every 6 Months

We come back every six months (annually on Essential) to keep your coverage honest — and every inspection produces a documented condition report you can share with your home insurance company.

Member Pricing on Everything Else

Anything that isn't covered — tree-root sewer damage, impact damage, remodels, upgrades — is repaired at your member discount of 15–20% off our standard rates.

Honest Coverage

What's covered — and what's not

The rule is simple: we cover plumbing that wears out on its own. We don't cover plumbing that something — or someone — broke. But everything that isn't covered is still repaired at your member discount.

Labor covered — 100%

Normal wear-and-tear failures of components documented at your inspection, per your plan schedule. We provide all repair labor at no charge; parts and materials are billed at member pricing:

  • Angle stops and shutoff valves that wear out
  • Flexible and rigid fixture supply lines
  • P-traps, tailpieces, and drain arms
  • Toilet fill valves, flush valves, and flappers
  • Fixture drain stoppages from ordinary use
  • Water heaters — repair or replacement labor (Complete plans)
  • Tub/shower valves, hose bibbs, disposals (Complete plans)
  • Sewer stoppages and wear-related spot-repair labor (Sewer plan)

Not covered — but member-discounted

Repaired at 15–20% off our standard rates, depending on your plan:

  • Impact damage — e.g., a P-trap crushed by items stored under the sink
  • Damage from chemical drain cleaners (acid or lye products)
  • Tree-root intrusion or root-damaged sewer lines
  • Pre-existing conditions documented at your baseline inspection
  • Foreign objects flushed or drained ("flushable" wipes, grease)
  • Work done on your plumbing by anyone else
  • Earthquakes, floods, freezes, and other external events
  • Home repairs from plumbing accidents — drywall, flooring, cabinets, mold remediation: that is what homeowner's insurance is for
  • Gas lines and gas piping — documented at inspection, never covered
  • Parts and materials — billed at member pricing on covered repairs

Insurance-Ready Reports

Your insurance company will love this

Non-weather water damage is the #1 homeowner insurance claim category in the country — and a documented, professionally maintained plumbing system is a lower-risk home. Every Shield inspection produces a technician-verified condition report you can share with your carrier or agent.

Want to go further? We install insurer-recognized leak-detection and auto-shutoff devices (Moen Flo, Phyn) — many carriers offer premium credits of roughly 5–20% for them and require installation by a licensed plumber. Installation is a paid service at your member discount, and we provide the documentation your carrier needs.

  • Semi-annual documented condition reports (annual on Essential)
  • Leak-detection & auto-shutoff device installation (paid, at your member discount) with insurer documentation
  • Overall system grade plus fixture-level findings and photos
  • Sewer scope video included on Sewer plans
  • Private, shareable link — you control access and can revoke it anytime

We provide condition reports — we make no representations about insurability and never handle carrier claims.

Why No One Else Does This

Plumbers sell discounts. Warranty companies sell paperwork. We sell both halves of the job.

We checked every major plumber in San Diego County. Maintenance clubs offer inspections and discounts — but no coverage. Home warranty companies offer coverage — but no inspection, so every claim becomes an argument. Covering a plumbing system responsibly requires inspecting it first, and only your plumber can do that. That's why Harborline Shield exists — and why we only cover what we've personally inspected and documented.

Family-owned, San Diego local

We live and work here. Your coverage is backed by the same team that shows up at your door — not a national call center.

Licensed & insured contractor

A California-licensed plumbing contractor, fully insured, with background-checked technicians on every visit.

We inspect before we cover

Every covered component is photographed and graded first. No sight-unseen coverage, no pre-existing-condition disputes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about how Harborline Shield coverage works.

Is Harborline Shield an insurance policy?

No. Harborline Shield is a service coverage plan provided directly by Harborline Plumbing — the licensed contractor that personally inspects and services your plumbing. It is not an insurance policy and is not issued by an insurance company, and it does not replace your homeowner's insurance. We provide the labor to repair covered plumbing failures (parts billed at member pricing); your homeowner's policy covers things like water damage to your home and belongings.

What if I already have a home warranty?

Third-party home warranties cover your plumbing sight-unseen, which is why claims so often get disputed over "pre-existing conditions" — and plumbing payouts are typically capped around $500. Shield works the opposite way: we document your entire system with photos and a sewer scope video before coverage begins, so there is nothing to argue about later. Many members keep a home warranty for appliances and HVAC and use Shield for the plumbing.

What happens at the baseline inspection?

Our technicians spend about five hours photographing and recording every accessible fixture and fitting — materials, ages, and condition grades — video-scoping the main sewer line (on Sewer plans), and performing onboarding service like a water heater flush, aerator cleaning, and stop-valve exercise. That documented baseline becomes part of your agreement and is viewable in your customer portal.

What if the inspection finds problems with my plumbing?

We never fail a home — we document it. Components with pre-existing damage or at end of service life are individually excluded from coverage, with the reason recorded, and everything else is covered. Excluded items can earn coverage: repair or replace them (through us, or another licensed contractor with our written approval) and we re-inspect and add them to your plan.

What about tree roots in my sewer line?

Root intrusion is excluded from coverage on every plan — no honest program can cover what trees do to pipes. But Sewer plan members get an annual recorded camera inspection that catches root problems early, and all members get their plan discount (20% on the Sewer plan) on root repairs, spot repairs, lining, or replacement.

Can Shield lower my home insurance premium?

It can help two ways, honestly stated: (1) many carriers offer premium credits of roughly 5–20% for professionally installed leak-detection and auto-shutoff devices — we install insurer-recognized devices (Moen Flo, Phyn) as a paid service at your member discount and provide the documentation carriers require; (2) your semi-annual condition reports document a professionally maintained system, which helps agents place and keep coverage on older homes and supports claims if a sudden failure ever happens. Discounts are set by your carrier — we document, they decide.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. You can cancel online at any time, effective at the end of your paid period. Annual prepayments are refunded pro-rata, less covered-claim labor costs already incurred that year. The baseline inspection fee is non-refundable once the inspection is done — it pays for real work performed.

Is there a waiting period?

Yes — no claims during the first 30 days of coverage, with one exception: components our inspection graded Good or Excellent within the prior 60 days are covered immediately. The waiting period is one of the ways we keep the program honest and affordable.

How does the insurance report work?

Every completed inspection generates a technician-verified condition report — overall grade, fixture-level findings, photos, and sewer scope video — with a private, revocable share link. You can hand it to your insurance agent or carrier as documentation of a maintained plumbing system, and you control access at all times.
